![]() I've finally received my copy of and read the Dazzler one shot. Let me begin by saying it was hard as HELL for me to find a copy. It went on say the day of my birthday and was sold out across the entire metropolitan area where i live. the only place I could find a copy was online at this fabulous comic store called Midtown comics.com they have a VAST resource for comic collectors needs. It came in the mail and i read it. My BIGGEST disappointment was the ART, the pencils especially. I dont recognize any of these artists credited and they really did not do Dazzler or this comic justice with their work. The story was decent, it apparently follows the aftermath of a larger X-men cross over , "Necrosah" involving the Black Queen and Dazzler's mad mutant sister Lois, who was a fixture in Dazzler's original solo series. The one shot basically comes to down to a battle between the sisters and a GRUDGE MATCH between Dazzler and Klaw. You'll remember that Dazzler famously defeated and killed Klaw years ago, the aftermath of which resulted in her becoming a herald for Galactus. The story acknowledges her own impressive rogue's gallery of villains, including Arcade, Enchantress, Dr. Doom, White Queen and even Rogue. She shows her power set off and even Arcade acknowledges that her power has INCREASED over the years as she blows out the entire structure of Murder World. She also manifests the power of flight, which she's shown periodically over the years, including in Excalibur. The writer seems to want to acknowledge that Dazzler was once very prominent both as a celebrity and heroine in Marvel universe but that she never seemed to accept b eing a heroine because she was too focused on wanting to be singer. She also seems to be aware that alove of people don't take her seriously (still) and so she has to proove she's got what it takes. The ending is favorable for her, and she even has an argument with Cyclops and calls him out on his hypocrasy and apparent BLIND loyalty to Emma Frost. I personally think Dazzler deserves a limited series at least and i think that people who dismiss dazzler are people who never read her solo series or her time with the xmen during claremont's reign or even her time with exaclibur post "house of M". she's not weak, she's not an amateur, and even though the writer made her conflicted and at times unsure of herself...she's still got power and she can use it. The story forced her to acknowledge her past and her mistakes but she seems to face that head on and is ready to go FORWARD with her eyes open. I think people who read this will be able to see why Dazzler should be respected as a serious solo herione AND xman. |

Moonstone, She Hulk and Photon on the same team? LOL that would be catfight ground zero right there! Moonstone has menaced She Hulk and Photon for years. There's no love lost between She Hulk and Dazzler either, who have fought each other to a stand still in her solo series AND in Uncanny Xmen. It WOULD be nice to see that line up. Although i'd replace Thundra with Ms. Marvel II (Sharon Ventura), who is ANOTHER former rival/ally of She-Hulk's.

While you are right about She-Hulk having fought half my lineup, I think that She-Hulk's growth since then combined with the respect she has garnered in her travels since then plus the passage of time will alleviate that. Hell, the tension makes it worth it and with a worthy enough foe (Apocalypse, Hel, Ultron)...they will HAVE to fight together. I can see respect emerging from that.
BTW, replacing Thundra with Ms marvel would be win...she could even strategize and lead the team. |
